The Occupation and the Training Process [751-702]

Information on the profession. Information on the training project. Assessment of the choice of career guidance. The professional behaviors to adopt. The importance of teamwork and collaboration with peers.

Helping Relationship [751-714]

Verbal and nonverbal communication. Principles and basic techniques of communication. Communication with an aphasic person or with sensory disorders. Special approach techniques for the various categories of people. Needs of the person being helped. Relationship and interaction with the person being helped and his family. Establishment of a climate of trust. Emotional balance.

Relational Approaches [751-724]

Needs of the person being helped. Relationship and interaction with the person being helped and his family. Techniques when the person demonstrates disruptive behavior. Intervention. Establishment of a climate of trust. Adaptation of the communication according to the various problems encountered.

Needs of Clients with Physical Illnesses and Disabilities [751-734]

Recognition of the observations to be made and precautions to be taken in the presence of diseases of the following groups: diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system, the cardiorespiratory system, the urinary and reproductive system, the digestive system and the immune system. Recognition of observations to be made and precautions to be taken in connection with alterations of the sensory system.

Activities of Daily Living [751-745]

Needs of the person being helped. Relationship and interaction with the person being helped. Establishment of a climate of trust with the person being helped and his family. Communication with a person with cognitive impairment, aphasia or sensory disorders. Practical training activities in the workplace with a home-based clientele (internship).

Prevention of Infections and Contamination [751-752]

Clinical manifestations of inflammation or infection. Modes of transmission of the infection. Cycle of the infection. Protocols. Basic practices to prevent and control infections and additional precautions. Handling contaminated material. Efficient and safe cleaning of equipment.

Basic Daily Care Procedures [751-768]

Planning interventions considering the work situation. Establishment of an order of priorities. Handling various equipment to move, position, wash or feed a person. Maneuvers to be performed according to the physical and cognitive state of the person. Basic principles ensuring the safety of the person assisted and the assistant to the person. Safe and quality care at home, in a substitute environment and in a care setting. Communication of observations to the clinical team.

Situations Involving Risk [751-772]

Observation and recognition of a potential risk situation. Care in a small space or with inadequate equipment. Prevention of safety and health hazards. Intervention with a person in a crisis episode or aggressive behavior.

Care in the Home or Alternative Living Environments 105 hours [751-787]

Practical training activities in the workplace with a clientele at home or in a substitute living environment (internship).

Family, Social and Cultural Contexts [751-794]

Family context. Sociocultural particularities. Signs of abuse. Manifestations of dependency. Clues of a problematic situation. Intervention in a problematic situation. Collaboration with the clinical team in place to establish the best intervention strategies adapted to the situations encountered with the person.

End-of-Life Care [751-802]

Assisting care and comfort appropriate to the person's condition in palliative and end-of-life care. Needs of the at the end of life person and those close to him. Helping relationship. Professional behavior and ethical approach in palliative and end-of-life care. Collaboration within an interdisciplinary team for the well-being of people in palliative and end-of-life care and their loved ones. Post-mortem care.

Medications and Basic Invasive Care [751-813]

Intervention. At risk situations. Administration of drugs. Invasive care for the activities of daily living. Communication of observations to the clinical team.

Care Related to the Client's Clinical Reality [751-824]

Assistance care related to the clinical reality of the clientele. Measurement of ingesta and excreta. Unregulated activities. Communication of observations to the clinical team.

First Aid [751-832]

General procedure of intervention in emergency situation. Application of the first aid procedure in cases of changes in consciousness, bleeding, allergic reaction, medical problems, fractures, wounds. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedure.

Short-Term Assistive Care [751-845]

Practical training activities in the workplace with people in healthcare institutions (internship).

Prerequisites

The person holds a Secondary School Diploma or a recognized equivalent. OR
The person is at least 18 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which the training begins and has successfully completed Secondary III credits in the language of instruction, second language, and mathematics in programs of study established by the Minister, or has received recognition of equivalent learning. OR
The person is at least 18 years of age at the time of admission and has the functional prerequisites, namely successful completion of the General Development Test (GDT) as well as the course in the language of instruction (FRA3103-1 / FRA3051-1) or recognized equivalent learning.
Successful completion of the College admission test is required.

Prerequisites

The person holds a Secondary School Diploma or a recognized equivalent. OR
The person is at least 18 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which the training begins and has successfully completed Secondary III credits in the language of instruction, second language, and mathematics in programs of study established by the Minister, or has received recognition of equivalent learning. OR
The person is at least 18 years of age at the time of admission and has the functional prerequisites, namely successful completion of the General Development Test (GDT) as well as the course in the language of instruction (FRA3103-1 / FRA3051-1) or recognized equivalent learning.
Successful completion of the College admission test is required.
