Surrey, BC – September 3, 2014 – Since 1981, the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) has provided support for sick children and their family and the CDI College Surrey campus is hoping to join the cause and give back to the community.
After the first RMH opened in 1981, the charitable organization has provided temporary housing for sick children and their families and has expanded to over 14 locations nationwide in 2014. As of 2013, the South Shaughnessy location, located near the BC Children’s Hospital, has grown from 13 bedrooms to an astounding 73. Each year, RMH has provided support for over 10,000 families of children who are seriously ill. Despite the inspiring statistics, approximately 70% of families are still turned away due to lack of rooms or resources. With the help of sponsors and donations, families can stay at the RMH for as little as $10 to 15 a night, 10 families’ worth of laundry detergent can be provided with only $50 a month, and washrooms can be maintained and fully stocked for $100 a month.
On September 20th, 2014 from 10am to 3pm, the CDI College Surrey campus will be hosting a car wash event to help support and fundraise for RMH BC. Just bring your car in and for a donation of your choice, our staff and students will make sure your vehicle comes out squeaky clean. Donors will also receive free giveaways from McDonald’s. Be sure to spread the word and invite your friends and family to this charitable event and help support a worthy cause.
