CDI College Partners with Union Gospel Mission: Empowering Communities and Building Careers

December 3, 2024 | British Columbia

At CDI College, education goes beyond the classroom—it’s about transforming lives and contributing to the communities we serve. This commitment is brought to life through our partnership with Union Gospel Mission (UGM), a charitable organization that has been making a significant impact in British Columbia by providing housing, addiction recovery, and job readiness programs to individuals in need.

Through this collaboration, CDI College students gain hands-on experience in real-world settings that align with their academic and career goals. These practicums allow students to not only apply their skills but also contribute directly to UGM’s vital mission of serving the community.

“This partnership is about more than career training,” says Yul Kim, President of Primacorp Ventures, Education Division, Canada's largest private provider of post-secondary education. “It’s about creating a lasting impact. Our students are not only learning practical skills—they’re becoming part of a solution that empowers individuals and strengthens communities.”

Students from programs such as Practical Nursing (PN), Social Services Worker (SSW), Early Childhood Education (ECE), and Business Development and Marketing Management (BDMM) are immersed in practicum placements at UGM. These experiences prepare them for their future careers while fostering a deep sense of empathy and purpose.

“Our students graduate with more than just skills—they graduate with a sense of responsibility to use their talents for the greater good,” adds Yul Kim. This partnership exemplifies how education can drive positive change, creating professionals who are equipped to make a meaningful difference in both their careers and their communities.

Why These Partnerships Matter

The collaboration between CDI College and Union Gospel Mission underscores the transformative power of education when combined with meaningful service. By offering students real-world practicum opportunities within a community-focused setting, this partnership nurtures both professional growth and a deeper sense of social responsibility. "They empower our students to become compassionate leaders, equipped to drive positive change within their communities and beyond,” says Yul Kim.

This initiative reflects CDI College’s dedication to shaping professionals who are not only skilled in their fields but also passionate about making a difference. By bridging education and community engagement, these partnerships demonstrate the immense potential of using knowledge and compassion to address real-world challenges and build a brighter, more connected future.
