Campus takes part in Canadian Blood Services’ Holiday Miracle campaign
Burnaby, BC – December 9, 2013 – As Canadians prepare to celebrate the holiday season, staff and students at CDI College in Burnaby want to help as many patients as possible celebrate life. That’s why the campus will take part in Canadian Blood Services’s annual Holiday Miracle campaign by holding a blood clinic on December 12, 2013.
Every day, someone in Canada needs blood, but collecting donations over the busy holiday season is challenging as many donors go away or are busy with family. Staff and students from the Burnaby campus want to do their part to help Canadian Blood Services ensure there’s adequate blood supply for hospitals to provide their patients.
“Every year, staff and students at CDI College campuses across the country take part in blood drives for Canadian Blood Services,” says Larry Heinzlmeir, VP of Marketing for CDI College. “We’re glad to see the Burnaby campus carrying on this tradition, especially as the holiday season approaches.”
Blood donation can have a positive impact on a patient’s life, but it often takes many donors to help save one hospital patient. Did you know that a patient with leukemia needs up to eight units of blood per week? Or that it may take up to 50 donors to help someone in a car crash?
CDI College’s blood drive takes place on Thursday, December 12th between 1:00-3:45pm. Transportation will be provided for those who want to participate. To find out how you can get involved, contact your campus director.
