Did you know? Pink Shirt Day started in 2007 when two Canadian high school students organized a protest in support of a fellow student who was bullied for wearing pink. Today, it's become a nationwide movement promoting kindness and inclusion. At CDI College, kindness, inclusion, and respect are woven into everyday campus life. This was especially clear during Pink Shirt Day on February 26, 2025, when students and staff united to take a stand against bullying and promote a culture of compassion. This year, CDI College proudly raised $1,018.60 in support of anti-bullying initiatives. From creative pink outfits to thoughtful conversations, the day was a powerful reminder that small actions can lead to meaningful change.
“Wearing pink is a small gesture, but it reminds us that kindness is a choice we can make every day,” said Elizabeth R., a student at our Calgary South campus.
More than a one-day event, Pink Shirt Day encouraged students to embody the values they will carry into their future careers. By participating, they demonstrated leadership, empathy, and a strong commitment to creating safer spaces for everyone. These experiences not only build community, but also help students develop soft skills they will carry into their future workplaces, such as empathy, leadership, and emotional intelligence. Thank you to everyone who wore pink, made a donation, or showed support. Your involvement made a difference and reflected the heart of the CDI College community.
Let us continue to stand up for kindness every day and build learning environments where everyone feels welcome and supported.
